Description:
Academy best practice statements dictate that patients are best served when hearing loss treatment extends beyond the mechanics of hearing aid fittings. Yet, surveys suggest that the majority of practicing audiologists provide little or no guidance toward improved communication habits for either patients or their primary communication partners. This eAudiology Web seminar looks at the limitations of amplification in meeting our goals with patients, questions the predominant hearing treatment approach relative to audiology's code of ethics, and presents a guide toward service delivery expansion that addresses the frequently overlooked audiological rehabilitation needs of our patients.
