Many healthcare organizations are experiencing a crisis in their leadership pipelines. The National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) recently conducted a survey (the NCHL National Healthcare Leadership Index) on the systematic failure of healthcare organizations. The findings indicated that these organizations do not pay nearly enough attention to succession planning or talent management activities. According to the American College of Healthcare Executives, the need for talent management and succession planning is increasing due to the shortages of leaders in various capacities, such as administrators, physicians, and nurses.

This webcast series is intended for those who want to establish, revitalize, or review their succession planning and management program. The Rothwell Model will be presented and accompanied with practical examples from healthcare. In this first webcast, the presenters will:

  • Review the trends and challenges in healthcare that drive the need for strategic succession management.
  • Provide an overview of the Rothwell Model.
  • Differentiate succession planning from replacement planning.
  • Discuss and compare current practices in succession management.
