Michelle Braden is passionate about learning and development—and about using her business-savvy and leadership expertise to look beyond typical adult learning strategies and towards innovative talent development approaches that drive true business impact. She is laser-focused on enabling team members of WEX to grow as individuals and professionals in their careers while delivering upon business goals and providing world-class services and solutions in the financial technology industry.

Michelle recently left TELUS International (TI) after serving as their chief learning officer and vice president of Global Learning Excellence for more than six years. There, Michelle built a multi-award-winning learning strategy, which has fundamentally changed how the organization built and maintained a robust leadership pipeline to support its fast growth while providing team members with a comprehensive learning journey throughout their TI career. During her tenure at TI, she was featured in the November 2018 issue of Chief Learning Officer magazine.

With 25 years of successful management experience in and around leadership and talent development, instructional design and development, information technology, and sales domains in companies that include Xerox and SAP, Michelle understands the impact that proficient and fulfilled employees have on engagement, attrition, and business performance. Michelle has an MBA with a leadership specialty and a BA in management and communications with a minor in information technology.


Phillip Rhodes
Phillip Rhodes

Head of Learning and Leadership Development, Waste Management

Phil Rhodes is head of learning and leadership development at Waste Management. Over the past 20 years, Phil has leveraged the latest technologies and processes to drive large-scale transformational change programs that deliver multimillion-dollar growth across highly competitive industries such as technology and hospitality. Prior to Waste Management, Phil led the One Team culture initiative in the Hilton DNA team to enable the growth of a startup within the larger enterprise, resulting in Hilton being named Fortune magazine’s number 1 place to work in 2019. As executive director of change, learning, and leadership at Comcast, Phil created the first-ever system for assessing leadership and executed a learning strategy that transformed the customer experience and enabled 77 percent sales growth during his four-year tenure. Phil also drove the culture integration of HR teams under the Bell Atlantic-NYNEX and NYNEC-GE mergers that created Verizon, including integration of benefits, compensation, and talent acquisition processes. 


John Cone'
John Cone'

Principal Catalyst, the 11th Hour Group

John Coné has worked in talent development for more than 40 years. During that time, he’s served as a chief learning officer (CLO), a vice president of HR, on the boards of nonprofit and for-profit learning companies and organizations, including ATD, and as a consultant and advisor to CLOs at more than a dozen major companies and to the federal government. He writes and speaks on issues of talent development, with emphasis on strategy, the implications of technology, and the future of learning. He chairs the chief learning and talent officers board for the Institute for Corporate Productivity. He serves as catalyst of Chief Talent Development Officer (CTDO) Next, and in this role, he facilitates a think-tank approach to the network’s applied thought leadership.


Eivind Slaaen
Eivind Slaaen

Head of People & Culture Development, Hilti AG

Eivind Slaaen is a member of the Hilti Senior Management Team, responsible for the development of the corporate culture, the global learning agenda, and strategic HR projects.

Eivind holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. He began his Hilti career in January 1991 as a project manager in Corporate Finance at headquarters in Liechtenstein. After various positions in Finance in North America and corporate headquarters, he was Head of Finance, IT and HR in Sweden and Denmark before taking a role as HR Business Partner for one mature and one emerging region. His current role was established as an outcome of a Hilti HR strategy in 2008.

Eivind Slaaen is passionate about designing and implementing pragmatic and effective global HR solutions to impact business results. He has a deep understanding of corporate culture, leadership development, and learning in the flow of work. He is an accredited coach and enjoys coaching leaders around the world. Eivind chairs the IMD Executive Education Advisory Council. He is also a founding member of ATD's CTDO Next, a group of talent thought leaders that shape what’s next in talent development.

In his leisure time, Eivind enjoys good food and wine, reading, and mountaineering.
