There's a lot of buzz surrounding the use of games for learning. While all learning experiences can't (and shouldn't) look like Angry Birds, there are some important lessons about engagement and adaptability that we should learn from game design to develop effective online learning. In this webinar we will consider key design elements that make games effective and how they can shape decisions we make about creating engaging learning experiences. We also will provide some first steps for learning professionals who are just beginning to explore the value of games through an instructional lens. Finally, we will demonstrate some of pitfalls to avoid when developing games for learning.
